There’s an election in New Jersey today.
And another in 20 days.
If you don’t know about these elections, then you haven’t been reading or watching New Jersey media. New Jersey Public Radio’s homepage, for example, is a roadmap for the elections, with stories on the gubernatorial candidates, the Senate candidates and even those running for lieutenant governor.
One NJPR story projects low voter turnout for today’s unusual Wednesday special election. Meanwhile, Dave Davies at NewsWorks writes that this is no shoe-in for Cory Booker (although Booker is trouncing Lonegan in a Baristanet poll). Jersey Tomato Press reminds us that the special election is costing New Jerseyans millions. And The Record and WBGO report on an Election Law Enforcement Commission report about record spending on these elections by independent political groups.
Meanwhile, it was a big night at NJTV (and Montclair State University, pictured above) last night, with the broadcast of the second and final debate between Christie and Buono. Today, NJTV has graciously provided pool photos. Visit here. NJ News Commons posted a nifty “storify” of the debate tweets — including thoughtful comments by NJ Spotlight’s John Mooney and The Record’s Charles Stile here.
