WNYC Launches ‘Christie Tracker’

Just in case you couldn’t find him, WNYC has launched the Christie Tracker — “an online hub where readers can follow the latest on New Jersey Governor Chris Christie.”

If you are New Jersey or Chris Christie news junkie, this site is for you. First off, it let’s you know whether the guv is in or out of the state, complete with map:

The site builds on the focus and expertise on Christie that WNYC/NJPR bolstered by hiring award-wining journalist Matt Katz who honed his Christie bona fides back at The Philadelphia Inquirer. There, Katz created The Christie Chronicles — “the nation’s only blog devoted to New Jersey’s governor” — which continues with Maddie Hanna at the helm.

Besides links to WNYC/NJPR’s coverage of Governor Christie by Katz and other reporters, readers get Katz’s latest tweets on Christie:

But is it too much Christie? If and when Bridge-gate and talk of 2016 subside, will this seem like much ado about nothing?

In short, no. WNYC/NJPR and Katz feel that Christie will be making news for some time to come.

“The Christie Tracker is a way for us to compile all of our reporting on Christie — plus some data and a bit of whimsy — in one spot,” Katz told NJ News Commons. “I definitely think Christie is going to continue to be a compelling story, regardless of the twists and turns of his political career.”
